The chairman of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Miloš Vučević, has accused Kosovo’s caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti of stoking tensions in the Western Balkans with what he described as unfounded claims.
In a post on the social network X, Vučević reacted to Kurti’s statements about a possible military alliance between the Kosovo Security Force and the Albanian Armed Forces, calling it a “direct threat to Serbia and the Serbian nation” and a step toward a “Greater Albania.”
“Kurti is trying to provoke an escalation of conflict and set the region on fire. Military alliances directed against Serbia remind us of the events of the 1990s and clearly show what is being prepared against the Serbian people,” Vučević said.
According to him, the statements of the Pristina authorities constitute a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1244, which stipulates that KFOR is the only authorized military formation in Kosovo.
“We are ready to defend our people and our homeland, but we do not seek conflict with anyone. Serbia does not threaten and does not brandish weapons, unlike those who want to take us back to the 1990s,” he stated.
He added that Serbia is strengthening its military and political capacities to preserve regional stability and announced that on September 20 a military parade will be held in Belgrade, which he said will demonstrate “how modern and powerful Serbia is today in the service of peace.”
