Rama Entrusts “Health” to an Albanian from the Diaspora: Who Is Evis Sala

Prime Minister Edi Rama has entrusted the Ministry of Health to Professor Evis Sala, a well-known Albanian figure from the diaspora.

Sala is one of the most recognized names in the field of oncological imaging at the international level. Currently, she leads the Center for Diagnostic Imaging and Oncological Radiotherapy at Gemelli Polyclinic and is also a university lecturer, where she contributes with her academic and research experience in training the next generation of health professionals.

She has had a long academic and research career in the United Kingdom, where for many years she was part of the University of Cambridge and co-directed the Advanced Cancer Imaging Programme and the Integrated Cancer Medicine Programme at the Cancer Research Center in Cambridge.

Her scientific research focuses on the development of functional imaging biomarkers for the rapid assessment of cancer treatment response, using physiological and metabolic imaging of the tumor habitat. Her areas of expertise include radiogenomics, the integration of quantitative imaging with genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, as well as the use of artificial intelligence for advanced data reconstruction and analysis.
