Demonstrations will be held on Sunday across Greece in support of Panos Ruci, the father of a Tempe victim, who has been on a hunger strike for 14 days in front of Parliament, demanding clarification on the cause of his son’s death.
The largest demonstration is expected to take place at Syntagma Square in Athens at 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, judicial authorities approved the exhumation of Denis, but only for identification purposes.
Ruci rejected the restriction of the decision: “I do not accept any of this. They continue to mock us. I am here and I will continue the fight until the end.”
A petition signed by 78 relatives of the Tempe victims requested that Denis Ruci’s body also undergo toxicological and histological tests. Authorities approved only identification.
Three other families have also requested the exhumation of their children lost in the 2023 railway accident, one of the deadliest train disasters in Greece.
