The Gjirokastra Police, together with experts from the Criminal Police Department, have clarified the circumstances of the serious incident that occurred in the early hours of September 26 on the “Nivicë–Salari” road, where Italian citizen Edoardo Sarchi, 44, was shot dead. His body was found at a location known as “Qafa e Dilanit.”
Following the establishment of a special investigative team, authorities identified and issued a wanted notice for the suspected perpetrator, 48-year-old Kamber Sulçe, a resident of Mesaplik, Vlora.
Sulçe is accused of “Aggravated murder committed in a manner dangerous to the lives of many persons,” “Illegal possession of firearms and ammunition,” and “Production and trafficking of narcotics.”
According to preliminary investigations, the incident is believed to have started with a verbal dispute over trivial motives between the victim and the suspect. Sulçe allegedly opened fire at Sarchi and the people accompanying him while they were near their vehicles. As a result of the shooting, the Italian citizen died instantly.
Police conducted several searches at the crime scene and in surrounding areas, seizing two hunting rifles and the vehicles used by the victim and his companions. In an abandoned sheepfold in a remote mountainous area between the villages of Nivicë and Bolenë, police discovered the vehicle and clothing used by the suspect during the crime, along with a bag containing suspected military equipment, including thermal binoculars, infrared binoculars, a gun mount, and a flashlight.
Further searches at the suspect’s home and the residences of his family members in Mesaplik and Vlora uncovered approximately 2.5 million lekë (in cash and euros), three hunting rifles with live ammunition, 450 suspected cannabis seeds, and two unopened safes.
Intensive efforts are ongoing, in cooperation with Vlora Police and the Criminal Police Department, to apprehend 48-year-old Kamber Sulçe. Procedural materials have been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra for further action.
