Tirana International Airport was transformed for a few minutes on Friday afternoon into a stage of art.

Passengers and visitors enjoyed a contemporary dance performance by a troupe of dancers led by world-renowned choreographer Angelin Preljocaj.

In the middle of the departures terminal, the dancers of the Urban Dance Intervention Group presented a show that combined movement, space, and spontaneity.

The performance—designed for public and unexpected spaces—was warmly received by hundreds of citizens and tourists who stopped to watch.

“I am always very happy whenever I come to Albania, because it is the country of my parents. This time I decided to come with smaller productions than before. I have come with a group that prefers to perform in some of the most well-known urban spaces of Tirana, in various areas of the capital,” said Preljocaj.

This year, Preljocaj brings to Tirana a program that connects international artists with the local public in urban spaces such as Skanderbeg Square, the Pyramid, Villa 31, the New Bazaar, and Tirana Airport.

The festival will continue until October 25 and will bring to Tirana 20 performances, including 15 premieres and 3 works specially created for the fourth edition, as well as over 10 free public events across 11 different city spaces.
