The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has been honored with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Women, Peace and Security Award — a prestigious international recognition that celebrates women leaders for their contribution to peacebuilding, strengthening security, and advancing democracy.
During the award ceremony, President Osmani said that this recognition is dedicated to the people of Kosovo, and especially to the women who, according to her, have played an irreplaceable role in the country’s journey toward freedom and peace.
“It is a special honor for me to receive the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Women, Peace and Security Award. I dedicate this extraordinary recognition to the people of Kosovo, and in particular to the women of Kosovo, who with courage, dignity, and devotion contributed to achieving freedom and building peace,” said Osmani in her speech.
She emphasized that the award belongs to all women who never gave up — to those who led protests, took part in the war, built institutions, and to the mothers who are still waiting to learn the fate of their loved ones who were forcibly disappeared during the war.
“This is an award for the champions of human rights, for the survivors who never stopped seeking justice, and for the young women who today lead in every field with confidence and vision.
Our peace was built upon their sacrifice and courage, while our democracy was strengthened thanks to the unmatched commitment of women who stood firm at every step of our journey toward freedom and equality,” declared the President of Kosovo.
The NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Women, Peace and Security Award is presented to individuals who have made a significant contribution to advancing the role of women in society, security, and democracy.
This recognition for Vjosa Osmani reinforces her position as one of the most prominent voices in the region for women’s empowerment and democratic leadership.
