The head of SPAK (the Special Anti-Corruption Structure), Altin Dumani, reported to the Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs regarding the institution’s work for the year 2024.
Dumani emphasized that during its operations, SPAK has faced various challenges, including media, political, and organized crime pressures.
“I would like to highlight the external pressure coming from political, media, and organized crime actors, which threatens the institutional integrity and independence of prosecutors. This situation requires a coordinated institutional response to safeguard constitutional independence,” Dumani stated.
The SPAK chief also underlined that the lack of clear legal provisions regarding the status of prosecutors creates uncertainty and may jeopardize the continuity of investigations.
