Richard Grenell, the U.S. Special Envoy of former President Donald Trump for global crises, has sharply criticized the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, following her visit to Kosovo.
In a post on the platform X (formerly Twitter), Grenell accused von der Leyen — as the head of the EU’s highest institution — of remaining silent while the Hague Court has kept former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi imprisoned for five years.
“Your Hague Court has kept President Thaçi for five years. How can you give judicial advice to any country? You stayed silent while Jack Smith arrested a sitting president simply because he was on his way to meet Donald Trump to broker a peace deal that would dismantle Jack Smith’s court. It’s shameful how the media has ignored this political prosecution,” Grenell stated.
