President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, spoke to reporters about the formation of the new government. Osmani emphasized that if a new government is not formed, she will set the date for new elections, but added that she does not want to assume there will be a failure within the remaining timeframe.
“I wouldn’t rush to make assumptions that the formation of the government will fail. There’s still a little time left. Let’s wait and see,” she said.
Osmani stated that the efforts of political parties to form coalitions are usually not visible and are often learned about very late, as they take place behind closed doors.
“As for the efforts of political parties, let me go back a bit to my own experience when I was part of a political party. Most of these discussions between parties happen behind closed doors. Often, you find out very late — sometimes even those of us within the parties found out late. You may recall some of those coalition cases,” she said.
The President added that she does not interfere in the discussions among political parties.
“So, I wouldn’t suggest that there are no efforts. Just because we don’t know about them doesn’t mean they’re not happening. I’m not sure whether these efforts are sufficient, because as President I do not intervene in discussions between political parties. What I can do is simply wish them full success in forming a government that will make decisions in the interest of the citizens,” she concluded.
