Kosovo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz, addressed the UN Security Council, speaking about the term “Kosovo and Metohija.” Gërvalla stated that this expression represents the language and terminology of former Serbian president Slobodan Milošević, as well as of those who, according to her, continue to follow his ideology.

“Allow me to make it clear: there is no ‘Kosovo and Metohija.’ That phrase is a clear expression of Serbia’s hegemonic ambitions. It is the old language of Slobodan Milošević and of those who follow him,” Gërvalla said.

During her speech, Gërvalla also emphasized that Kosovo has a strong economy. According to her, the World Bank has ranked Kosovo as one of the top leaders in Europe for economic growth.

“Our strength derives from our people, from our Western democracy, and from our strong economy. For the fifth consecutive time, the World Bank has ranked Kosovo as a top leader in economic growth in Europe.

Our projected growth remains around 4%. Foreign investments are increasing, as are profits. Kosovo ranks first in Europe and third globally in the Rule of Law Index,” she said.
