Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, during his speech at the London Summit, highlighted Kosovo’s progress in democratic, economic, and security indicators, while warning that the country continues to face serious threats from the north.
Referring to the armed attack in Banjska, Kurti emphasized that the terrorist act cannot be ignored and called for justice regarding the incident.
“Milan Radoičić has admitted responsibility; however, justice has yet to be served. Our hostile northern neighbor should not be allowed to act with impunity, as this encourages further incursions and sends a dangerous message that attacks on Kosovo’s sovereignty and territorial integrity may go unpunished,” Kurti stated.
He noted that Kosovo has taken significant steps in strengthening democratic institutions and fighting corruption, but warned that destabilization efforts have not ceased.
Security issues and migration were also central to his address. Kurti underlined Kosovo’s commitment to combating the trafficking of small and light weapons, which, according to him, are used by non-state actors as well as by states with malicious intentions to create instability.
“Kosovo is not a source of migration, but merely a transit point with relatively very low numbers,” Kurti declared, emphasizing that his country remains committed to international partners in addressing shared challenges.
