The Constitutional Court officially announces that today, at 5:00 PM, the President of the Court, Mrs. Holta Zaçaj, will hold a briefing with journalists at the Court’s premises.

This communication will concern the Court’s decision regarding the case filed by Erion Veliaj, with the following subject:

“Annulment of Decision No. 539, dated 25.09.2025, of the Council of Ministers, ‘On the dismissal of the Mayor of Tirana, Mr. Erion Veliaj,’ as incompatible with the Constitution of the Republic of Albania”;

Annulment of the Decree of the President of the Republic No. 350, dated 1.10.2025, “On setting the date of partial local elections for Mayors in several local government units,” for the part that sets the election date in the Municipality of Tirana, as incompatible with paragraphs 2 and 3 of Article 115 of the Constitution;

Suspension of the legal effects of the Decree of the President of the Republic No. 350, dated 1.10.2025, for the part related to elections in the Municipality of Tirana, in accordance with the suspensive effects recognized by paragraphs 2 and 3 of Article 115 of the Constitution to the constitutional appeal of the Mayor against the Council of Ministers’ decision on dismissal, until the Constitutional Court issues its final decision.
