The Thessaloniki Court has sentenced a 47-year-old Albanian man to life imprisonment for the murder of his Greek wife, as well as for the attempted murder of her son and violations of Greece’s firearms laws, Protothema reported.

The crime occurred on the morning of December 1, 2024. According to court documents, the man believed that the woman and her son were having a sexual relationship. Armed with a knife, he arrived at their home at around 8 a.m. with the intention of killing them.

Testimonies from the woman’s children revealed that there had been no argument that morning, although the man had shown jealous behavior and the victim had asked him to leave the house.

The defendant also told the court that he believed his wife was having an affair with another man. Referring to events that had taken place a few days earlier, he said that a mark on her lips had fueled his suspicions.

“That day, I didn’t go to the house to kill them, but to see my daughter,” the man testified. “When I arrived, I sat down to have coffee. During a conversation, I mentioned to my wife that she was having a relationship with her son, and she replied, ‘I’m fine.’ Then I lost control. I took the knife, sat down again, and the conversation started once more. I can’t remember exactly what I did or whether I used both knives. I was shouting at her son, ‘Tell me the truth!’ I hadn’t planned to kill them — I hit her because she pushed me. Before I left for work, there was no mark on her lips. I asked what it was, and she said something had happened to her lips. I told her she hadn’t had anything like that for years, and now that her son was back, it appeared. Then she kicked me out of the house. Ten years ago, I had seen her looking at him through the window and masturbating,” he claimed in court.

The defendant stated that after the killing, he went to the police to surrender, though he claimed he was not fully aware of what had happened.
