The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, was in the city of Shkodra this Thursday as part of the November celebrations, where she was welcomed by the mayor, Benet Beci.

In a statement to the media, Osmani said that Shkodra is a city that has contributed greatly to Albania and that naturally its ties with Kosovo have always been very close.

“Shkodra has truly helped Kosovo in its most difficult moments. In 1998–1999, all the citizens of Gjakova and other nearby areas stayed here, where the people of Shkodra had their hearts and homes open. Shkodra also stood behind us during our post-war reconstruction, as two states striving for EU integration. It is a special emotion for us to be in Shkodra on the eve of Flag Day.

For us, this is a fourfold celebration: besides Flag Day, tomorrow is Albania’s Independence Day; it is also the birthday of the legendary Commander Adem Jashari, as well as the anniversary of the public appearance of the KLA. Today we also celebrate our army’s Force Day.

Kosovo and Albania stand strong today and on the right path toward EU integration thanks to the support of our allies. Tomorrow I will be in Vlora and Tirana to continue the joint celebration,” Osmani stated.
