Euronews Albania, through journalist Alice Taylor, questioned the European Commission about the raids and investigation involving Federica Mogherini, the College of Europe, and the European External Action Service (EEAS), following Belgian media reports stating that Mogherini has been detained in Brussels as part of this fraud probe.
A spokesperson for the Commission refused to provide a direct answer, directing the journalist to the comments made during the midday briefing:
“Police were there as part of an ongoing investigation into activities that occurred during the previous mandate. We have nothing further to add as there is now an ongoing investigation. We will not be able to provide anything more at this stage.” All additional questions from journalists also went unanswered.
This response comes in the context of the ongoing investigation into past activities of the EU institution, which have drawn international media attention.
