German Ambassador Bergner held a meeting this Wednesday with the Chair of the High Prosecutorial Council (HPC), Mirela Bogdani, as well as with the members of the Council.
In a post on Facebook, the German Embassy highlighted that during the meeting, Bergner emphasized the important role the HPC plays in maintaining the independence, integrity, quality, and efficiency of the prosecution system in Albania.
He also expressed his appreciation for the dedicated work of the HPC and encouraged the Council to carry out its duties actively, responsibly, and with full awareness.
Bergner once again underlined the importance of the upcoming selection of the successor to Altin Dumani as head of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office (SPAK).
“Under the leadership of Altin Dumani, SPAK has achieved exceptionally significant successes in the fight against corruption at all levels and organized crime. It is important that this course continues.
We are confident that the upcoming selection will take place transparently and that every member of the High Prosecutorial Council will guide their decision solely by the professional qualifications of the candidates and their unquestionable integrity,” he stated.
