A 49-year-old woman of Albanian origin from North Macedonia was found dead this Wednesday in her home, in a village near Ancona. Italian police suspect that the woman was beaten to death by her 50-year-old husband, who is also of Albanian origin.
He has been missing since the morning and is currently being searched for. The man did not show up for work, while the couple had recently reunited after a period of separation.
Italian media report that the 50-year-old was arrested last April after a brutal attack on his wife. At the time, he attacked her with an axe, breaking down the bedroom door. The woman managed to escape literally at the last moment, finding shelter in a neighbor’s house.
The perpetrator suspected that his wife was cheating on him. She had forgiven him and withdrawn the complaint, which led to their reunion in July. The 49-year-old woman was found dead in bed today, with visible signs of beating and head injuries.
According to Italian reports, the woman had contacted authorities several times since January, complaining that her husband had harassed and systematically abused her for nearly two years.
