Cities across Albania have been illuminated by a festive atmosphere. In most central squares, end-of-year lights have been officially switched on, marking the beginning of the holiday season.

Cities throughout Albania lit up with festive spirit as, on Saturday, most central squares officially turned on their holiday lights. Main squares, boulevards, and large Christmas trees were filled with colors, decorations, and new artistic installations.

In Tirana, Skanderbeg Square was filled with hundreds of citizens who gathered to watch the lighting of the giant Christmas tree—a moment accompanied by choirs from the capital’s schools, young performers, and ballet groups who presented classic holiday songs. Children were the protagonists, whose voices and emotions transformed the square into a large celebration.

In Durrës, the festive atmosphere was enriched with music and activities for children. The main square filled with people of all ages who experienced the beginning of the holiday magic amid music, colorful decorations, and shared joy.

Elbasan lit its holiday lights amid the excitement of children from the Cultural Center, bringing a warm and cheerful holiday spirit to the city. This year, the Elbasan Municipality introduced a special and bright decoration, turning the city center into a festive space.

In the southeast, Korça switched on its holiday lights last night during a festive event that gathered hundreds of residents and many tourists who had chosen the area for a weekend getaway. The countdown moment was accompanied by special effects and applause, officially giving the city the magical December atmosphere.

On Saturday evening, in Gjirokastër, the colorful decorations added a special charm to the museum area, attracting numerous residents and visitors.

This year’s decorations are more abundant, creating a sense of joy and togetherness throughout the country. For many citizens, the lighting of the Christmas lights marks the start of the most cherished time of the year—holidays, traditions, and time spent with loved ones—while municipalities have planned a rich artistic calendar with shows, concerts, and festive activities that will accompany residents and tourists throughout the month.
