The new head of SPAK, Klodian Braho, began his mission as a prosecutor in 2007, when, after completing the School of Magistrates, he was appointed in Berat, serving there until 2012.
He was later transferred to Vlora, where he served until 2015 and also held the position of deputy head of the prosecution office.
During this period, he was among the prosecutors investigating former mayor Shpëtim Gjika. Afterwards, Braho joined the Serious Crimes Prosecution Office, where he served until 2019, before moving to SPAK as part of the first group of prosecutors who began work there.
Confirmed in his position through the vetting process, Braho served until yesterday as head of SPAK’s anti-corruption section. The new SPAK chief has investigated several high-profile cases, including those involving former Prosecutor General Adriatik Llalla, the incinerator cases, the “5D” case, former Minister of Defense Fatmir Mediu regarding the Gërdec tragedy, as well as files related to abuse of public funds and money laundering.
He is known as the cool-headed prosecutor of the “White Collars” and is also the prosecutor who investigated—and continues to investigate—the “Toyota Yaris” case, in which he arrested his former colleague, the head of the Vlora prosecution office, Aurel Zarka.
Recently, Braho has met with senior U.S. officials who visited Albania and stopped at SPAK, expressing their support for the Special Prosecution Office.
