Singer Alis won first prize on Saturday night at the 64th edition of the RTSH Festival, at the same time being named Albania’s representative at Eurovision with his song.

This year, Alis competed with the song titled “Nan,” with lyrics by Desara Gjini and music composed by the young artist himself.

What stands out in this song, beyond its Albanian musical motifs, is the powerful and deeply emotional message conveyed through its lyrics, with which Albania will be represented this year at the world’s biggest music competition.

The song’s message reflects the sorrow and pain of parents who wait and suffer as their children leave the country to emigrate. It comes at a particularly meaningful moment, as in recent years Albania has experienced a mass departure of young people, according to official data from INSTAT and Eurostat.
