The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, delivered the main speech at the opposition protest, where he leveled strong accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama, holding him responsible for the depopulation of the country.

In a speech marked by harsh rhetoric, Berisha declared that the prime minister and the ruling majority are politically finished.

“Edi Rama tonight is a political corpse. Rilindja is a political corpse—it is waiting for its funeral, and we will conduct that funeral,” Berisha said, drawing applause from supporters gathered in the square.

Berisha also addressed skeptics of the opposition’s protests, stressing that their goal is the removal of the prime minister from power.

“On your feet, Albanians, with the historic mission of removing Rama. To save the Albanian family and democracy. We are here today, and I am convinced that rightly so there are citizens in the square and others following us who say: ‘What will these people do?’ We will do this: ‘either we will die, or we will live for freedom.’ Woe to anyone who tests us. We will go to Surrel… When we have come out with this oath, we have never lost. Never can a handful of thieves trample us, blacken Albania… He has declared war on us; we declare war on him,” Berisha stated.

According to him, the opposition has fulfilled its mission toward citizens and the international community.

“The opposition has done its duty before you. The opposition proved to the world how Edi Rama turned your votes into a farce. It proved that Rama is an enemy of pluralism. It proved that Rama is the boss of drug cartels,” he said.

Berisha concluded his speech with a call for civic mobilization.

“These carry one message: on your feet, Albanians, in the historic mission to remove Edi Rama, to save Albania, to save democracy and the Albanian family.”

In closing, he reiterated the opposition’s determination not to retreat.

“To those who ask questions, I say: you are right, but I give you my word that we will either die or live for freedom. Woe to anyone who tests us. And you know well that when we have come out with this motivation, we have never lost—we have won,” he said.
