The leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, Sali Berisha, held a meeting this Friday with Democratic Party supporters in Manëz, as part of his tour known as the “Foltoret”.
In his speech, Berisha called on Democrats to maintain continuous resistance through peaceful protests, emphasizing that the opposition will use only democratic means to achieve the removal of the government.
“We started our battle in parliament, and I assure you that you have a genuine opposition. We are not a party of violence. Our path is peaceful resistance and the public squares,” Berisha said.
He cited examples from the history of the Democratic Party, referring to the years 1991, 1997, and 2005, to stress that, in his view, political change has been achieved through voting and peaceful resistance.
Berisha also referred to the December 22 protest, describing it as a victory on legal grounds and one that had an “extraordinary international impact.”
“Do not rush to judgment. The square must be ours. Let us return to the square every night and Edi Rama will leave like a mouse. He cannot stay there,” he declared, referring to Edi Rama.
In conclusion, the leader of the Democratic Party said that 2026 will be a decisive year for the opposition, describing its mission as an effort to “overthrow a second dictatorship” and to “save Albania.”
“January marks the beginning of our battle until victory,” Berisha concluded, also extending holiday greetings to his supporters.
