The head of OSHEE Group, Enea Karakaçi, presented the set of measures undertaken to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply during the end-of-year holidays. According to him, OSHEE Group has implemented a detailed operational plan, and so far no significant problems in the network or supply shortages have been identified.
Karakaçi emphasized that electricity consumption has increased, reaching 29.2 million kilowatt-hours just one day earlier — the highest level recorded during the year — while another increase in demand is expected on December 31.
“We have not faced any major network issues or supply shortages. Around 1,600 field workers are on 24-hour standby, equipped with the necessary materials to address any faults, while the call center remains open to handle all citizens’ concerns,” Karakaçi stated.
Meanwhile, the Transmission System Operator (OST) announced that the increase in electricity demand has been a continuous trend for more than two years, but the transmission network remains stable throughout the country.
OST Administrator Bledian Dalipi said that the peak load has already been recorded and is expected to occur again on December 31. According to him, energy losses in the network have not exceeded 7%, while technical interventions have been carried out in 12 substations across different areas of the country to ensure network security and stability.
Dalipi also highlighted that OST operates on the ground through four main units and 11 regions for medium- and low-voltage networks. He stressed that thanks to investments made in the transmission and distribution network, Albania now has a more stable and secure electricity grid, which is also reflected in fewer power outages in many areas of the country.
“We have carried out interventions in 12 substations, as well as investments in medium-voltage lines. In addition to these investments, we are also conducting intensive work with field teams. During 2025 alone, major interventions were completed in high-voltage substations, extending all the way to the final consumer,” Dalipi said.
He added that throughout the winter season — especially on New Year’s Eve and during the holiday period — the network will be continuously monitored by specialized teams, while staff in dispatch centers and in the field has been increased to ensure a safe and uninterrupted power supply.
“We will guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply not only during the holidays but throughout the entire winter season, with operational alert at the highest level,” he concluded.
