Prime Minister Edi Rama, speaking during his weekly podcast Flasim, also addressed the invitation from the United States for Albania to join the Peace Board. He emphasized that the invitation was accepted and ratified despite the unrest and noise that emerged in Parliament on Thursday.

The head of government stressed that the decision was approved with a strong “yes,” including votes from those who had previously been critical, underlining that Albania has chosen peace as its guiding compass.

“This week began with an invitation that stirred Albania—an invitation beyond official protocol, with very strong political and historical significance, in my view, for Albania. The President of the United States sent me this invitation to join them on the Peace Board, a body founded by him, and to accept Albania as a founding member of this board. It is a welcome invitation, and I did not doubt that it would cause noise, but I did not expect that imagination and malice would come together to give life to certain theories and fairy tales. Nevertheless, the invitation was welcomed, accepted, and ratified in the form of an agreement in the Albanian Parliament. Albania, as a state that has chosen peace as its permanent compass and that has known how to contribute at important international tables, accepted it with a strong ‘yes,’ including the votes of those who, even as they voted, spared no criticism,” Rama said.
