Minister of the Interior Albana Koçiu has denied reports claiming that the directive banning electric scooters has been lifted.
In a post on social media, Koçiu stated that the directive remains in force and that there is no decision to remove the temporary ban.
“FALSE!
The directive banning the circulation of electric scooters remains in force. There is no decision to lift the temporary ban. The State Police continue their daily engagement in the field to ensure full enforcement of this directive, in line with the official announcements previously made.
I express my gratitude to citizens for their cooperation and understanding in complying with this measure, which aims to protect safety and lives, particularly those of young people.
Data from the State Police and trauma services confirm a significant decrease in the number of accidents during the period of its implementation.
The Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the responsible institutions, is continuing to assess the situation in order to determine the most appropriate course of action, placing the safety and lives of every citizen at the center of every step,” Koçiu wrote in a Facebook post.
