The State Police have taken measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the national protest called by the opposition, scheduled for Tuesday, February 10, at 5:00 p.m., in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.

According to sources for Euronews, more than 1,000 police officers are expected to be deployed on the ground and on standby. In addition to public order forces, the National Security Forces and the RENEA special unit, there will also be plainclothes officers.

Starting from 11:45 p.m. on Monday, vehicle parking will be prohibited until the end of the rally along “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard, from the area known as “Ura e Dajtit” to “Ismail Qemali” Street.

From 3:00 p.m. until the conclusion of the protest, vehicle traffic will be blocked on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard, from the intersection near the Ministry of Interior to “Nënë Tereza” Square, as well as on “Ukraina e Lirë,” “Papa Gjon Pali II,” and “Ismail Qemali” streets.

Depending on how the rally develops, traffic restrictions may also be imposed on other road sections. In the event of blockages, Tirana Police have taken measures to divert traffic through alternative routes.

Police are urging citizens to avoid traveling by vehicle on the roads that will be blocked, in order not to hinder the free movement of protest participants.

It is recalled that during the January 24 protest, 18 people were arrested, 17 others were criminally prosecuted, and two protesters were declared wanted. Additionally, 11 police officers were injured and received medical treatment at a hospital. The organizational secretary of the Democratic Party was also criminally prosecuted for the offense of “organizing and participating in illegal gatherings and demonstrations.”
