Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted following a statement by the Special Prosecutor at The Hague Court, who claimed that Hashim Thaçi was able to mask reality by repeatedly misleading members of the international community.

Rama shared a video clip of the prosecutor’s statement on his Facebook page, accompanying it with the caption: “What an international idiot!”

In his submission, on the second day of statements against Thaçi and the other defendants, the Special Prosecutor alleged that Thaçi had repeatedly deceived international officials. For this reason, he argued, statements made by international representatives regarding the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), its command structure and the role of its former leaders should be treated with caution.

“They did not know that Thaçi was able to make military appointments… What James Rubin, Wesley Clark and other international figures fail to understand is that Thaçi was capable of disguising what was actually happening on the ground, and this influenced their perception of how the KLA truly functioned. In particular, Rubin and Clark showed no interest in understanding what was really happening and believed they were on the right side of history, without confronting the reality that this judicial panel is now hearing,” the Prosecution stated.

Regarding their roles as former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army during the war in Kosovo, the Prosecution has requested sentences of 45 years in prison for each of the four accused.
