The Mediterranean Games “Prishtina 2030” will introduce innovations and an expanded program featuring 24 new sports. These include athletics, swimming, judo, boxing, volleyball, as well as additional disciplines such as 3×3 basketball, futsal, and the possibility of adding sports like Baseball5, Canoe Sprint, or Kickboxing, depending on approval by the organizers.

To prepare for hosting the Games, major investments in sports infrastructure have been planned in Kosovo. This includes the construction of a modern national stadium, which will host the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as new sports facilities in several cities, including Peja, Ferizaj, Prizren, and Vushtrri.

One of the key elements of the preparations is the transformation of the Student Center in Prishtina into an accommodation hub for thousands of athletes, providing around 4,500 beds, new facilities, and renovations of kitchens and other service areas.

Since Kosovo does not have access to the sea, for sports such as sailing, rowing, and other sea-related water sports, the country has reached a cooperation agreement with Albania. As a result, sea events will be held along the Albanian coastline — a unique initiative and a historic innovation of this edition of the Mediterranean Games.

In the 2030 edition, approximately 3,500 to 5,000 athletes from 26 Mediterranean countries are expected to participate, making it the largest sporting event ever organized by Kosovo.
