On the occasion of the 18th anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence, the Embassy of Kosovo in Albania organized a ceremonial evening this Monday, during which journalist Thimi Samarxhi conducted an interview with Ambassador Skënder Durmishi.

During the interview, Ambassador Durmishi thanked journalists and the media for their continued support for Kosovo. Regarding the judicial processes that have affected former leaders of the KLA, Ambassador Durmishi emphasized that the KLA had been on the right side of history.

“It is a special moment and I would like to express my compliments for everything you do for Kosovo. Tomorrow there will be tributes at the statue of the legendary commander. This will be a testament of respect and humility before such figures. It is the first time I am saying this, though I am not among the few—most have always said that it was an unnecessary and unjustified judicial process. Everyone knows that the KLA was on the right side of history. It was a just war for dignity, and this deserved the support and trust of NATO,” said the ambassador.

Speaking about regional agreements, he stated that there is nothing that would endanger any country in the region.

“No one should fear the agreement between Albania, Kosovo, and Croatia. It is a strong step with two NATO countries, Croatia and Albania. There are exercises conducted according to NATO’s principles and rules. There is nothing that would endanger anyone in the region; on the contrary, it is a guarantee of peace and stability,” he said.
