Presence of Toxic Substances, Infant Formula Imported from Poland Recalled in Kosovo

The Food and Veterinary Agency of Kosovo announced through a post on Facebook the withdrawal from the market of the infant formula milk Aptamil Pronutra 1, Pronutra 2, and Bebelac 1. The recall was initiated after the presence of the toxic substance cereulide was detected.

These products are reported to have been imported from Poland. The FVA emphasized that the risk has been assessed as serious.

“Given that the level of risk has been evaluated as serious, the FVA, in cooperation with the importing company, has undertaken immediate measures to withdraw from the market the product Aptamil, infant formula, produced by Nutricia Zakłady Produkcyjne Sp. z o.o., Poland, and imported into Kosovo by UNION L.L.C., Vushtrri,” the announcement states.

The FVA also announced that it will continue market monitoring and the implementation of preventive and control measures to ensure food safety and protect consumer health in the Republic of Kosovo.
