The U.S. Department of State issued a statement following the meeting between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani. The statement revealed details from the meeting, emphasizing that Secretary Rubio thanked President Osmani and the people of Kosovo for becoming founding members of the Peace Board.

It also stressed that the United States looks forward to working with Kosovo’s new government to advance a shared agenda of regional peace, stability, and economic prosperity.

“Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, a committed partner in the Western Balkans. The Secretary thanked President Osmani and the people of Kosovo as founding members of the Peace Board and for their contribution to the International Stabilization Force in Gaza.

The United States looks forward to working with Kosovo’s new government to advance our shared agenda of regional peace, stability, and economic prosperity,” the statement issued by the Department said.

Osmani also shared details from the meeting with Rubio in a Facebook post on Friday, stating that they discussed opportunities to strengthen the alliance between the two countries.

“On the 18th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kosovo and the United States, it was a special honor to be received today at the U.S. Department of State by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

We discussed opportunities to strengthen our alliance, as well as concrete steps in this direction that are of vital importance to our people. In particular, I thanked him for Kosovo’s inclusion in the Peace Board, for the decisive American support for Kosovo’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for the U.S. military presence in Kosovo as a key presence for peace and stability in the region.

We discussed the great importance of Kosovo’s membership in NATO, as well as opening new chapters of cooperation in the economy and defense, as part of our strategic partnership.

Side by side with the United States, we remain committed to strengthening peace and security, addressing shared global challenges, and advancing Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic integration,” Osmani wrote.
