The Ombudsman, Endri Shabani, held an official meeting this Tuesday with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Albania, Nicholas Abbott. It is reported that the discussion centered on the state of human rights, strengthening the role of the Ombudsman, and the vision for an institution that ensures accountability and the protection of citizens.
During the meeting, the Ombudsman presented the need to intervene with a clear perspective aimed at giving hope to Albanian youth by creating conditions that encourage them to see their future in the country. Joint efforts to protect citizens’ rights were also discussed as one of the pillars of a democratic and sustainable society.
Meanwhile, Shabani outlined his vision for modernizing the Ombudsman’s institution, promising a reform that would position it as the primary defender of citizens who, until now, have felt unheard.
Ambassador Abbott confirmed the United Kingdom’s support for the presented vision, praising the role of the Ombudsman as a guardian of human dignity and the rule of law.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to intensify the strategic partnership, focusing on projects that modernize the work of the Ombudsman and strengthen its capacity to protect citizens.
