In this Sunday’s podcast, Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on the extended meeting of the Socialist parliamentary group, emphasizing that discussions focused on the government’s work progress in several sectors, as well as on the relationship between politics and the justice system.

He also announced the plan for changes in the government, comparing them to changes in a sports team, and added that he would reserve more detailed comments until after reviewing the report of the Council on Mandates.

“This week, the extended monthly meeting of the Socialist parliamentary group was held, where MPs engaged in a detailed discussion on the progress of work in a number of sectors, for which the respective ministers reported. Likewise, at the extended monthly group meeting, I spoke about the relationship between politics and justice, at a stage when much has been positively achieved, but when much else still requires addressing. For all those interested, they may refer back to my remarks on this very page, on the day the extended monthly meeting of the group was held, in fact, last Thursday.

Meanwhile, at the same meeting, I also shared with the deputies the plan for changes in the government. These are changes that align with what I have considered a new approach in this regard, which I spoke about as early as my address to the National Assembly at the beginning of this mandate. I even made a comparison between changes in a football team and those in a basketball team. So, in this respect, the changes were planned. However, naturally, if circumstances had been different, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy — who, based on the extended group meeting and the new government composition plan, is now the former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy — would not have changed, given the extraordinary results achieved in her work.

In any case, I spoke briefly on this topic at the group meeting and I reserve the right to elaborate more extensively after I have read the report of the Council on Mandates.”
