The Delegation of the European Union has reacted regarding the opposition protest. In a post on Facebook, the EU Delegation emphasized that the right to peaceful assembly is a fundamental pillar of any democratic society.
The EU further stressed that this right must be exercised responsibly and expressed concern over the violent acts during Saturday’s opposition protest. In its statement, the Delegation added that the violence endangered people’s lives.
“The Delegation of the European Union emphasizes that the right to peaceful assembly is a fundamental pillar of any democratic society. It must be exercised responsibly, in full respect of the rule of law and the safety of all individuals.
In this context, the EU Delegation expresses concern over the recent acts of violence in Tirana, which endangered people’s lives,” the statement reads.
