Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on the latest developments in the Middle East, emphasizing that Albania, as a NATO member, remains safe.
In his podcast “Flasim”, Rama highlighted solidarity with affected countries, including Cyprus, Greece, and Turkey, while describing the situation in the region as complex and difficult to predict.
“Of course, like everyone else, we are also affected—fortunately not physically, but certainly politically, emotionally, and humanly—by the recent developments in the Middle East and by the escalation of the security situation in a region where we have extraordinary friends. We are proud to be one of the few countries that maintain strong friendships both with Israel and with the countries of the Persian Gulf—Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain—which have been within the range of aggression from Tehran’s killers. The situation remains complicated, and it is difficult to predict the end of an offensive launched, rightly so, by the United States of America in close alliance with Israel to once and for all stop the possibility that the obscurantist regime of the Khomeinist Republic of Iran produces an atomic bomb,” Rama said.
“At this moment, of course, for us as for many other countries, the main priority is the safety of Albanian citizens who are in those countries. Our diplomatic missions and consulates in the region are in constant contact both with us and with the local authorities. They are doing everything possible to monitor the situation, inform people, and provide assistance. Meanwhile, the issue of flights remains a challenge for everyone,” he added.
