The Parliament of Albania announced that last night, around 21:00, an unauthorized access to its IT infrastructure was detected. During the verification process, the deletion of part of the information in several user accounts belonging to the administration was observed.

Authorities warn that the preliminary technical assessment indicates the possibility of a sophisticated cyberattack aimed at deleting data and compromising some internal systems.

Initial analyses show that the main working infrastructure has not been affected. The official website of the Parliament and other systems supporting the institution’s operations continue to function normally.

Immediately after the incident, measures were taken to isolate suspicious traffic and neutralize the attack. Technical teams are currently working to recover the deleted data.

A joint technical and investigative team has been established to analyze the incident, identify its source, and restore the affected data. The Parliament is cooperating closely with institutions responsible for cybersecurity, including the National Cyber Security Authority of Albania, the Cybercrime Investigation Directorate of the Albanian State Police, and the Cyber Command of the Albanian Ministry of Defence.

In addition, technical support is currently being provided by international partners, with whom communication is ongoing to assess the situation and determine the next steps.
