Prime Minister Edi Rama has recently reacted through a post on X regarding the decision of the Constitutional Court of Albania, which considered the closure of TikTok unconstitutional and a violation of freedom of expression.
Rama wrote that, according to the court’s decision, 90% of Albanian parents and teachers were wrong when they asked for TikTok to be shut down. According to him, thanks to the closure of TikTok, parents and teachers can now feel somewhat more relieved. He emphasized that TikTok was reopened only after the company introduced additional safety measures.
“The Constitutional Court seems to think that 90% of Albanian parents and teachers were wrong when they asked for TikTok to be shut down! Fortunately, we reopened TikTok only thanks to the understanding we found with the company regarding the extra measures it took, precisely as a result of the impact of the shutdown. If it were up to the Constitutional Court, it would never have been closed at all and those positive measures would never have come. Thanks to that closure, today parents and teachers can feel a bit more relieved, while thanks to this decision — which I don’t even want to name — slanderers may feel encouraged,” Rama wrote.
