Southeastern Albania has been one of the most sought-after tourist destinations even during the winter season. Numerous domestic and foreign tourists chose to spend their weekends in the mountainous areas of the region, especially in the tourist villages of Dardhë and Voskopojë, particularly on days when snowfall created a special winter atmosphere.

In Dardhë, one of the main attractions remains the ski slope, which this season has been visited by a large number of tourists. The administrator of the slope, Thoma Tasha, said that throughout the winter season the area welcomed not only local visitors but also foreign tourists passionate about winter sports.

“The season this year was short, but the number of tourists was much higher than last year. Most visitors were locals from across Albania, but there were also many foreigners, particularly from Asia and India. There was a large influx and tourism reached high levels. We are satisfied and for this reason we are planning larger investments, including a three-seat cable car,” said Tasha.

According to tourism operator Anton Falo, Voskopojë has also been a preferred destination for tourists, although their number in the village has slightly declined.

“As every year during Christmas and New Year there was a high influx. When there is snowfall, there are usually more tourists. However, the flow has slightly decreased,” Falo said.

Meanwhile, during the winter season hotels and guesthouses in the city of Korçë hosted a large number of both domestic and foreign visitors. According to minimum estimates, from December 23 to January 3 alone, tourism revenues in the city exceeded €2.5 million, once again confirming the important role of winter tourism in the local economy.
