Inflation in Albania reached 2.6% in March, up from 2.1% a year earlier, according to the latest data. Compared to February, prices increased by 0.7%.

The rise in inflation is mainly linked to the transport and energy sectors. Fuel prices increased due to geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran, driving a 7.5% rise in the Transport category. Meanwhile, rents rose by 4.8%.

On the other hand, the food group recorded a moderate increase of just 1.3% year-on-year, helping to contain higher inflation. On a monthly basis, transport prices rose by 7%, while food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.7%.

Experts note that inflation remains under control, but rising prices in the energy and transport sectors could impact the cost of living and influence monetary policy decisions in the coming months.
