Eric Wendt spoke before the Senate about NATO’s role in Albania and his perspective as the future ambassador there, if confirmed by the Senate. Wendt specifically highlighted the importance of Porto Romano for NATO.
“As for our NATO alliance, an important point is Porto Romano. It is one of the main ports there which, in the future, I believe will include a cargo facility. It is strategically located and will become effective by 2030.
From there, military forces will have a valuable operational location for NATO and for businesses as well. Once I get there, I will need to see what is happening on the ground and then take action,” Wendt said.
