During his press conference with the media, Prime Minister Edi Rama was asked whether he would ever find himself in a situation where he had to choose between resignation and prison, a question raised in the context of the recent protests.

Rama responded by saying that he is proud to have led a major effort aimed at reforming Albania’s justice system.

“The time when people were threatened with prison in the streets is a time we left far behind. I am the person who proudly led the greatest historic battle for Albanians by paving the way for justice reform and by creating a structure that is entirely independent of me and carries out its work in the service of justice.

This is once again part of speculation and manipulation. I have seen many such claims before, and they do not impress me. It is a very old movie,” he said.
