The U.S. Embassy in Tirana has issued a warning to Albanian citizens who travel to the United States on tourist visas to give birth and use the Medicaid program to cover their medical expenses.
In a post shared on Instagram, the Embassy stated that this practice could affect their eligibility to renew their U.S. visas in the future.
“Many Albanian parents with tourist visas travel to the United States to give birth and use the Medicaid program to pay for medical care. These costs are ultimately borne by American taxpayers, and those parents may not be eligible to renew their visas in the future,” the U.S. Embassy said in its statement.
