A raft breaks down at sea, police rescue 12 people in Vlora

A raft with 12 citizens suffered a defect on the coast of Vlora, where the lives of the 12 citizens who were on it were endangered, 11 of them tourists from different countries.

According to sources from the Police, it is known that the vessel was blocked, as it was not equipped with the Maritime Tourist Operator’s Certificate, while its owner was fined 100 thousand new lek.

Fortunately, all those rescued are in good health and have thanked the Police services.

Police Notification:

Vlorë-Border Police and Coast Guard rescue 12 citizens, including 11 tourists from different countries, whose lives were in danger in the boat that had broken down at sea.

The owner of the vessel was fined with an administrative measure of 100,000 ALL, while his vessel was blocked, as it was not equipped with the Marine Tourist Operator’s Certificate.

Citizen E. L., 30 years old, a resident of Vlora, requested the help of the Police after his boat had an engine failure in front of the port of Vlora.

The Border Police Services of SPK Triport, upon receiving the notification, immediately set off with a boat and in cooperation with the Coast Guard boat, made it possible to save the 12 citizens who were on board the boat, where 11 of them were tourists, from different countries such as Poland, France, Israel and Belgium.

The Border Police Services, after towing to the port the vessel where the tourists were, carried out verifications from which it was found that the vessel sailed from SPK Triport, is a watercraft for personal use and is not equipped with a Marine Tourist Operator Certificate.

The raft was blocked and the citizen E. L. was punished with an administrative fine in the amount of 100,000 ALL, based on Law No. 43/2020 “For maritime tourism operators”.

The tourists who are in good health have thanked the Police and Coast Guard services for their help and quick response.
