The number of active COVID-19 cases in Albania has reached 232, marking an increase from the day before.

The Ministry of Health reported 34 new cases on Thursday, after testing 3348 citizens.

Out of the 34 new cases detected, 7 were recorded in Tirana, which has been the epicenter of the virus throughout the pandemic.

Currently, there are 5 patients hospitalized at the Infective Diseases Hospital in the capital.

There were no COVID-19 related deaths over the last 24 hours, a trend persistent since June 26. So far, the virus has claimed 2,456 lives.

A one-week massive vaccination campaign for people older than 18 has been launched by the Health Ministry in order to immunize the population.

The country is relying on several vaccines, namely Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Coronavac, and Sputnik V.
