African plague in Albania, an outbreak is discovered in Lezha

An outbreak of the African plague has been identified in Mali of Rrenci in Lezha.

The disease has appeared in pigs and, according to information, at least 10 heads have died, of which five inside a farm and five others along the forest massif of this area.

After the identification of the cases, the Veterinary Service in Lezha was immediately put into motion and the analyzes carried out showed that the pigs died from the African plague.

For this reason, the area has been quarantined, while checks are being carried out in the entire area. The veterinary service has refused to comment, while it continues to work to analyze the situation.

Public health experts say that African plague is a disease that affects domestic and wild pigs, but there is no confirmation that the disease can be transmitted from pigs to humans or other animals.
