The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of the attack he suffered earlier today when a citizen from the crowd punched him causing minor bleeding, as the head of DP was marching towards the Boulevard “Dëshmoret e Kombit”.
In his speech during the protest, Berisha said that the attack on him was planned by the head of the government.
“Here, narco-euros are used for every crime, including the one they planned today. On this basis, complete monism has been established in Albania. Even today, Edi Rama has more power than the last communist dictator did back in 1991. According to the law enforcement indicator, Albania has ranked 54 places above Kosovo, but also four places below the socialist-communist republic of Vietnam,” the chief democrat highlighted.
Berisha was attacked while he was marching alongside the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, and his supporters, in the direction of “Deshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard. Berisha was punched by 31-year-old Gerti Shehu, who was immediately neutralized by Berisha’s bodyguards, but meanwhile was also assaulted by several Democratic sympathizers.
Shehu was initially provided with emergency help at the Democratic Party headquarters and was later transported to the Trauma hospital in the capital city.
