In Vlora, the development of tourism is experiencing new challenges. Tourist agencies and operators express their concern for tourists who come but do not spend at the expected level. Mikel Zinxhiria, in one of the agencies in the city, points out that many visitors have a limited budget and prefer cheaper options for accommodation and services.

“We see foreigners coming and going, the more we see these with bags in their hands, he is not a tourist who will come to buy that luxury service that we sell, but they are in the south of Italy, where information is transmitted faster, they are tourists with that level of the low budget, we are not moving at the right pace, we should have perhaps a smaller number of tourists but have slightly more elite tourists”, says Zinxhria.

Tourist agencies in the city continue their activity under the fear that a tourist who comes to Vlora once will never return.

“The increase in prices is actually to be divided by different categories, in a good part it is not fair, restaurants and retail service units have a higher price than they really should have, in in the city of Vlora, we discuss that a normal restaurant, a plate of pasta costs 13 euros, it costs 18 in the middle of Milan, we don’t have an offer to entice here”, he says.

The chain also points out that the inappropriate distribution of tourism, only in the area of the 2-kilometer coastal cordon, where the presence of palaces dominates the hotels, is making the tourist experience less attractive and less comfortable, while the accommodation units and service units can be distributed throughout the city.

In order to increase the attractiveness of Vlora as a tourist destination, it is necessary to review and optimize prices and services to ensure a more competitive and acceptable offer for visitors.
