As of January 29, driver’s licenses issued in Kosovo and Italy will be mutually recognized in both countries.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo announced that the agreement between the two states has officially entered into force.
According to the statement, this agreement allows citizens to convert their licenses without undergoing additional procedures, whether theoretical or practical.
“The implementation of this agreement is an important step towards the integration of Kosovo citizens living in the Republic of Italy,” the ministry stated.
Recently, in December 2024, the Minister of Internal Affairs announced the signing of a reciprocal driver’s license recognition agreement with Croatia.
Meanwhile, in 2022, the ministry had previously stated that following Germany’s recognition of Kosovo’s driver’s licenses, negotiations were ongoing for similar agreements with Canada, Turkey, and Austria.
