Albania’s Minister of Interior Taulant Balla signed with the Ambassador of the Republic of France in Tirana, Catherine Suard, the implementation agreement to strengthen police cooperation in the ballistic field.
On this database, weapons and ammunition seized by legal authorities are registered. The use of ballistic information based on the technical elements of seized weapons and ammunition enables the identification of all arms trafficking networks.
The agreement is developed within the EVOFINDER project for the Ballistic Identification System, and this project started during the Berlin Process.
France and Germany have implemented and are currently implementing this EVOFINDER project for all Western Balkan countries.
The system has been donated to all Western Balkan countries, including Albania.
EVOFINDER is a ballistic identification system and is currently operational at the Institute of Police Science.
This agreement will be an additional tool in the fight against organized crime, the use of small arms, and the identification of possible perpetrators regardless of the country where the criminal act is committed.
The agreement foresees that the competent ballistic services of both countries examine the ways of integrating into their national ballistic identification file networks, while applying procedures that guarantee the reliability and quality of the exchanged data.
