The first 200 farmers have started work in the new agro-food market which opened this Monday in the Farka area. The Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj participated and explained how AgroPark Tirana will work.

“Starting from turkeys, to olive oil, to vineyards and wine, they are all rewarded. All that work and all that ambition that we have waited for years to have a public market, something that does not work for the purpose of profit, but for the purpose of support, today becomes a reality. Let’s enjoy the new agro-food market. It will work a little like a market, a little like a stock exchange, a little like a business aggregator. We have been contacted by several different companies, as far as Israel, to make sure that there is a corner here where new techniques and the latest findings in science are taught. Agro-processing has also turned into a science,” said the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj

Veliaj also talked about the political opponents, where he said that they are promising everything for free in this campaign, while he said that in this market, farmers will save 70% of the costs, which until now went to the private sector.

The new market in Farka covers an area of 6,000 square meters of warehouse space, 2,000 square meters of open daily trading, 6,000 square meters of parking space and a total available area of 25,000 square meters. In the second phase, it is planned to increase the trading area and increase the spaces for 200 more farmers.
